Heigh-ho Bitcoin mining we go!

When you think of mining do you picture Snow White and the Seven Dwarves? Or perhaps someone in a hard hat, covered in black coal dust? Bitcoin mining is very different.

If you’re not clued up on bitcoin don’t worry, you’re not alone. We have recently gained more knowledge on the ground-breaking digital currency after suppling an air conditioning system to a bitcoin mining company.

What is Bitcoin?

Bitcoin is a digital currency which was designed in 2009 by Satoshi Nakamoto, an alias of an unknown person/persons. It is used to sell or buy items from individuals and companies that accept this method of payment.

What is Bitcoin mining?

Bitcoin doesn’t use centralised authorities such as banks. Instead, every transaction is included on a ‘blockchain’ ledger that is held on thousands of companies across the world. Mining is used to ensure that no bit coin is spent twice and decide which transactions should be added to the ‘blockchain’ ledger.

How do we fit in…

We’ve just installed an air conditioning system in a large container with computers dedicated to bitcoin mining. Our mission was to keep our client’s bitcoin hardware cool. The air conditioning system is needed because mining bitcoins requires vast computing power to solve complex mathematical problems which in turn requires vast numbers of computers running simultaneously. The energy consumption is enormous which creates heat and ultimately, these computers need to be cooled.

This is our first bitcoin job but it won’t be our last. Bitcoin is here to stay, and we’re pleased that we can be part of this new business. If you have a bitcoin business or any other business that could benefit from an air conditioning system, please get in touch. We are the air conditioning experts and can recommend the right system or units for you, once we understand your requirements and budget.
