It’s not only churches and old buildings that are being stripped of lead, bronze statues stolen from parks but increasingly
air conditioning units are disappearing in the night.

High scrap metal prices make it worthwhile for thieves to steal anything
that can be weighed in for scrap. They risk electrocution and cold burns from refrigerant but still take pipework and condensers that are in running order. Manchester police say it is a growing problem. We had four sets of pipework and cables stolen overnight from a site in Greater Manchester despite the soft drawn copper being coiled up to above the height of the first floor windows for security. Thieves scaled the security fence with a ladder, disconnected the security camera and took the copper and cable. Lock it or lose it! Put cages around your condensing units in high risk areas.
