Large glass areas, increased thermal insulation, windows that do not open for safety reasons and the increased use of IT equipment are some of the factors making the teaching environment unbearably hot. The NUT are pressing for legislation requiring schools to adhere to the World Health Organisations recommendation for a maximum 24degC limit for comfortable working conditions.
